BUILD YOUR OWN TOWER CLOCK ROMAN STYLE
We have two great new giant surface mounted wall clocks. They are fun to install and will complement any dιcor.
These clocks can be set up between 3 and 3 ½ feet in diameter and are available in two styles. The Roman style is more traditional and comes with 17 Ύ" spade style hands.
There is an unusual tradition concerning the use of Roman numerals on clock dials. The numbers IIII are used instead of IV and VIII are used instead of IIX because it gives each number four digits, which gives a better "balance" to the appearance of the dial graphics. While there are many theories one is theory is synonymous with most writings on the subject regarding symmetry.
On the other side of the clock dial the VIII is the heaviest number, consisting of four heavy strokes and one light one, as it is usually made. It would destroy the symmetry to have the IV with only two heavy strokes on the other side. Thus IIII with four heavy strokes is more preferred. This tradition goes back over 300 years, but is rarely noticed.
The models are designed to be surface mounted on interior walls and can be mounted to almost any smooth surface.
